2013 USOC Coach of the Year nominations due January 6, 2014

The National Governing Body of each Olympic and Pan American sport may nominate a top coach in each of five categories:

National Coach of the Year - Nominee is a coach of an Elite Level Club, Collegiate, Pan American, World Championship or Olympic Games coach or the coach of an elite athlete who competes at the highest level of your sport. This award is based on the accomplishments of the coach for the year 2013. The nominee must currently be coaching or within one year of their retirement.
 
The "Doc" Counsilman Science Award - Identifies a coach who utilizes scientific techniques/equipment as an integral part of his/her coaching methods, or has created innovative ways to use sport science.  The “use of science in sport” includes, but is not limited to, biomechanics, nutrition, psychology, technology, strength and conditioning, exercise physiology, etc.

Developmental Coach of the Year - This award acknowledges efforts of a youth club, high school or junior-level coach, or a coach directly responsible for coaching athletes to the junior and/or elite level. This award is based on the accomplishments of the coach for the year 2013. The nominee must currently be coaching or within one year of their retirement.

Volunteer Coach of the Year - Recognizes a coach who does not receive payment in any form for their involvement in coaching at any level. The nominee should be for actively coaching athletes. This award is based on the accomplishments of the coach for the year 2013. The nominee must currently be coaching or within one year of their retirement.

Paralympic Coach of the Year - Nominee is a coach of an Elite Level Club, Collegiate, Pan-Am, World Championship or Olympic Games coach or the coach of an elite athlete who competes at the highest level of your sport. This award is based on the accomplishments of the coach for the year 2013. The nominee must currently be coaching or within their first year of retirement.

The awards are managed through the USOC Coaching Recognition Program to recognize coaches for their contributions and to elevate the status of the coaching profession. The recognition period is from Jan. 1, 2013 through Dec. 31, 2013.

Nominees must be active USBC Certified Coaches.
