Holiday Bowling Ideas

With the holidays rapidly approaching, let’s talk about some ways to include bowling into your festivities.

Have Santa show up at league

Now that the holidays are upon us, make league a family occasion! Host a potluck before or after you bowl, designate one person to be Santa and invite your bowlers' families. With a mix of food, family and some friendly competition, it's a great way to mark the season at your center - not to mention getting the kids in the holiday spirit.

A simple way to get into the holiday mood is to start dressing the part. A simple addition to any bowler’s wardrobe is a Santa hat, but why stop there?
Ugly holiday sweater parties have become a trend in recent years, so get creative and bring the idea to league! You could challenge your teammates to see who could roll the highest series in the ugliest sweater.

Bowl for white elephant gifts
'Tis the season for gift giving - and for giving away some useless items for laughs. Have some fun at league by having each bowler bring a white elephant gift to league (probably a good idea to limit the gift to $10 or less). Stress that these gifts are something fun and easy. Pile the wrapped presents somewhere out of the way before league and have a drawing to determine the gift order for everyone involved. Each person will open their selected gifts in that gift order. After league, whoever has a lower series for the night can "steal" one gift from someone else with a higher series. Let the games begin!

Don't forget the actual gifts!

'tis the season after all!

Don’t forget all of the good times you've shared with your teammates in this season of giving. Whether it’s buying a round of drinks or dropping off some gifts, show those who pick you up when you can’t pick up a spare that you appreciate them. And don't forget to take an opportunity to give charitably this holiday season. Bowl for the Cure (supports the fight against breast cancer) and the Bowlers to Veterans Link (supports our active and veteran servicemen and women) are great choices!

Be on the lookout around New Year's
If you’re looking for a new way to ring in the New Year, maybe this is the year to check out what’s happening on the lanes. Many centers offer a New Year’s Eve package, and if you’re looking for a club-like atmosphere, a boutique bowling center might be the place to take a cup of kindness with an old acquaintance.
New Year’s Day often has bowling in mind as well, and usually offers an array of tournaments for those looking to fulfill their New Year’s resolution of taking home a title.

Usher in 2015 with bowling in mind, and you’ll bid gutters and splits “Auld Lang Syne!”
