Youth Instruction Camps

Various programs across the country are conducting youth bowling instructional camps during the summer months. These camps can generate up to $20,000 per year, depending on the length of the camp, activities provided and the number of participants. It would require an instructor and possibly other assistants certified to provide bowling instruction. Current team members can be used as camp assistants. The University of Nebraska , Wichita State University and the University of Kansas currently are performing profitable instructional camps for different age levels during the summer.

Corporate and Personal Donations and In-Kind Gifts

Across the country, various programs annually benefit from up to $40,000 in donations and in-kind gifts through individuals and corporations specifically related to the sport of bowling. Items that can be secured included bowling balls, bowling bags, shoes, shirts/uniforms and other equipment. Overall, athletic companies can financially support and supply teams.

National Television and Media Exposure

Women’s bowling provides additional national television exposure for your institution and athletic department. ESPN2 televised the NCAA Women’s Bowling National Championship to a nationwide audience in April 2004 and 2005. Prior to 2004, PrimeSports and ESPN2 have televised the Intercollegiate Team Championships. Beginning with the 2004 event, College Sports Television (CSTV) signed a multi-year deal to broadcast the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships on its rapidly-emerging network. Also, various articles and promotional items regarding collegiate bowling are published in national newspaper and magazines throughout the year.

In addition, there are a number of collegiate bowling program graduates who are achieving high levels of success at the national, international and professional levels of competition. Many collegiate bowling standouts have gone on to great success in the sport of bowling as professionals or as international competitors representing the United States as members of Team USA and Junior Team USA . Collegiate bowling programs also have been successful in recruiting top international bowlers who also represent their respective countries on their national teams.
