    StoneyBakerInsideGaffney, S.C. –     After a four year delay, Stoney Baker of Canton, Ga., defeated Dick Allen of Columbia, S.C., 247-216, Sunday to successfully defend the Professional Bowlers Association South Region Gaffney Open title he last won in 2008 at Gaffney Entertainment Center.

    Baker, who had to wait for a return to Gaffney after the host center underwent a management change, qualified second for the stepladder finals and easily defeated Kip Roberts of Glen Allen, Va., 243-210, in the semi-final match to advance to the title match. He earned $2,200 for his 22nd career PBA Regional win.

    In the first stepladder match, Roberts defeated Dave Shinn of Columbia, S.C., 219-194. Collins earned $1,000 for third while Shinn earned $800 for fourth.

    The South Region’s next tournament will be the Wilson Pest Control Super Senior Open at Northside Lanes in Winston-Salem, N.C. on August 17-19.
