Roberts wins PBA South Region title

KipRobertsInsideCovington, Virginia – Kip Roberts of Glen Allen, Va., defeated Lee Vanderhoef of Greenville, S.C., 279-204, to win the Professional Bowlers Association South Region’s Red Zone Lounge Open at Thunder Alley Sunday.

The title was Roberts’ first of the year in the PBA South Region and the 14th PBA Regional title of his career. He earned $2,000 along with his title.

Vanderhoef defeated PBA Hall of Famer Tom Baker of King, N.C., 253-233, to advance to the championship match. In the first stepladder match, Baker eliminated Ben Davis of Ashland, Ky., 239-211.

Vanderhoef earned $1,100 for second place, Baker won $850 for third, Davis pocketed $750 for fourth.
