Overview

The USBC Collegiate program, headquartered in Greendale, Wis., maintains the eligibility and integrity of club and varsity bowling by providing certification and regulation of the sport at the collegiate level. It also provides assistance and leadership in implementing bowling programs and avenues for skill and leadership development to ensure pride and enjoyment in the sport.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Junior College Athletic Association recognize USBC Collegiate as the sport’s national intercollegiate governing body. USBC Collegiate is dedicated to providing collegiate bowling opportunities to enhance students’ academic, athletic and personal development.

USBC Collegiate oversees and conducts the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships and the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships. USBC Collegiate also works with the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association to determine All-American and Academic All-American recognition, Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player honors

 
Benefits of College Bowling
  • Academic, athletic and personal development: More than 170 colleges and universities offer intercollegiate bowling programs. Teamwork is heavily emphasized in college bowling, allowing student-athletes to develop interpersonal skills.
  • Opportunities for advancement: College bowling programs continually produce high-quality players who rank among the best in the world, both at the professional and amateur levels.
  • NCAA women’s bowling: Elevated to an NCAA championships sport in the 2003-04 season, NCAA women’s bowling continues to grow at the Division I, II and III levels.
  • Scholarships: As college bowling opportunities continue to grow, so do the availability of full and partial scholarships from participating schools, both at the varsity and the club levels.

Since her days as an All-American at San Jose State University, Kim Terrell has personified athleticism and grace – winning the PWBA Robby Award for positive image three times. Her dedication to the sport carried through her professional career, highlighted by her 2002 WIBC Queens championship. Through her work as a USBC Silver level certified coach, USBC Junior Team USA assistant coach and USBC Collegiate spokesperson, Kim is driven to make people aware of all the avenues bowling can take you.
