Entry Deadline Extended for 2006 USBC Open Championships

If you didn’t submit your entry for one of the world’s greatest bowling tournaments, you still have time to do so thanks to an entry deadline extension.

With entries for the 2006 USBC Open Championships in Corpus Christi, Texas, still coming in at a steady pace, USBC has announced that the entry deadline has been extended until Jan. 15.

In addition, the tournament also will be extended one day, with team spots now available on July 2. So far, more than 12,400 teams have been processed for the event, which will begin its 143-day run on Feb. 11 at Corpus Christi’s American Bank Center Convention Center.

Proudly Representing the USA : Lynda Barnes

Denny’s PBA Tour star Chris Barnes might be the more recognizable bowler in the family, but his wife Lynda Barnes is a great bowler in her own right.

She recently won the QubicaAMF World Cup in Slovenia and has been featured in the print version of US Bowler. Barnes had this to say about becoming world champion:

"It's amazing what it means to me to win the World Cup. It has so much prestige," said the 38-year-old Barnes, a former Professional Women's Bowling Association touring player and mother of three-year-old twins Ryan and Troy. "It was a dedicated effort by my whole family to be here."

Become a USBC Volunteer

USBC is only as strong as you, the member, make it. Get involved in your favorite sport and become a USBC Association volunteer. USBC has a strong network of volunteers working through local and state associations, and we have created a program that recognizes these volunteers.

A great way to get started is to volunteer for a Bowl for the Cure® event. Through Bowl for the Cure® events, USBC has raised nearly $4 million for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and its affiliates since the program’s inception in 2000.

Support the USBC Scholarship Fund

Help our youth bowlers succeed and give yourself a tax break by contributing to the USBC Scholarship Fund.

The Scholarship Fund provides a guaranteed pool of scholarship dollars that enables USBC and scholarship fund donors to help more young bowlers achieve their goals both on and off the lanes. Your donation directly and positively impacts our youth!

Your contribution is held in the Scholarship Management and Accounting Reports for Tenpins program. SMART is designed to help organizations set up, manage and disburse youth bowling scholarships as well as help USBC Youth members locate and secure scholarship dollars for their continuing education. SMART manages more than $3 million awarded annually to youth, with complimentary assistance for recipients and providers.
