USBC CEO Roger Dalkin |

USBC Mascot Striker |

USBC Mascot King |
This Fourth of July, USBC took part in the Greendale, Wis. parade (site of USBC Headquarters). USBC CEO Roger Dalkin served as chauffeur for USBC mascot King, while Striker got a ride in a pickup truck. The kids along the parade route were even able to get Striker and King’s autographs, sure to be worth thousands of dollars some day (or maybe not).
Hope all USBC members had a great Fourth! |

Tip of the Month: Starting a Relaxed Swing
Using too much muscle will pull your swing off line and make it difficult to be consistent. In addition, using muscle causes the swing to feel restricted, which actually slows it down.
A relaxed swing starts in the stance by keeping your grip relaxed. The hand and arm muscles need to feel relaxed. To develop this feel, try this drill from the USBC Athlete Development Drills package.

The Difference
USBC Open to be Official Sport Bowling Event in ‘08
The USBC Open Championships is built on 104 years of history and tradition and exemplifies integrity and competition, while providing its participants with a unique and enjoyable experience.
Challenging lane conditions always have been a staple at the Open Championships and have added to the prestige that comes with beating out more than 60,000 competitors for a title on the tournament lanes.
Beginning with the 2008 event in Albuquerque, N.M., the tournament officially will be USBC Sport Bowling certified for the first time.
Walk on the Wild Side: Play Like the Pros in the PBA Experience
It’s time to “tame the beasts.”
The beasts are the five lane oil patterns you’ll face when you join a PBA Experience league, one of the most unique opportunities in sports. Called Chameleon, Cheetah, Shark, Scorpion and Viper, these wild animals are the same patterns that Tommy Jones, Walter Ray Williams Jr., Chris Barnes, Pete Weber, Patrick Allen and other pros battle each Sunday on ESPN in the 21 regular events of the Denny’s PBA Tour.
Did you know:
- Each season the PBA makes changes to their lane patterns.
- USBC research engineers in Greendale, Wis., work hand-in-hand with the PBA and its players to develop, modify and test their lane patterns.
- The distinct patterns create an exciting environment for USBC Sport Bowling league play that will test and improve your game.
- Competing on the same playing fields as the PBA makes it a pro experience for bowlers of all abilities.
- Best of all, you can bowl on them just by being a USBC member.
Play like the pros this season by joining a PBA Experience league. Visit the “Find a League” feature on the Sport Bowling section of bowl.com or call (800) 514-BOWL, ext. 3177.
Searchable Rules Online
The 2007-08 Playing Rules book is now available online. In this improved edition, the common rules questions and answers have been moved from the back of the book and now appear with the rule in question. Check the Rules pages of bowl.com on Aug. 1 for the debut of the new database-driven fully searchable online Playing Rules section.
PBA Announces 2007-08 Denny’s PBA Tour Schedule
The 2007-08 Denny's PBA Tour - its third in a row with Denny's as the title sponsor - will return to 14 venues from the 2006-07 season and will feature venue changes for two of its four Majors with an arena final for a third. The September through March season includes 21 stops.
Headlining the changes to the 2007-08 schedule is the move of the 2008 PBA Tournament of Champions, which moves to the $31 million Red Rock Lanes facility in Las Vegas, Nev. The event also moves from the last event of the schedule to early in the second half. In addition, the 2008 PBA World Championship heads to the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev. The USBC Masters finals will return to Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers, after holding the event's finals at that venue in 2004.
Additionally, the 2007-08 Denny's PBA Tour will feature a PBA Women's Series and a special, exempt field doubles event dubbed the PBA Exempt Field Doubles Classic. The Women's Series will take place at four locations on the first half of the Tour - Taylor, Mich., Cheektowaga, N.Y., Merrillville, Ind., and Grand Rapids, Mich. - while the Doubles Classic will occur at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas.
