FIQ Overview

The Fédération Internationale des Quilleurs was founded in 1952 in Hamburg, Germany, and has been recognized by the International Olympic Committee since 1979 as the international governing body for tenpin and ninepin bowling.

There are 125 member federations located in all Olympic Zones. FIQ is headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo.

International facts

More than 100 million people bowl world wide, including more than 200,000 elite-level bowlers. 10 million compete in organized events worldwide

Major international events include:
Asian Games Bolivarian Games Caribbean Games Ciss Games Central and South American Games Commonwealth Games East Asian Games Far East Asian Games	Maccabiah Games Masters Games Pan American Games Solidarity Games Southeast Asian Games World Games World Youth Games World and Zone (American, Asian and European), as well as National Championships, are conducted annually or biennially for adults and youth
