Championship Patterns

Length: Varies

Bowlers must be at the top of their games to conquer the many patterns that fall under the Championship category.

These challenging patterns test the mettle of the world's top bowlers in the PBA's four major tournaments:

  • USBC Masters
  • U.S. Open
  • PBA Denny's World Championship
  • PBA Tournament of Champions

Championship patterns comply with USBC Sport Bowling guidelines which allow a maximum of only three times as much oil on the inside boards versus outside boards. Versatility will be a key to success on these patterns as the varying oil ratios and lengths will determine what part of the lane from which to attack.

Champions on this pattern include:

  • Norm Duke (U.S. Open - North Brunswick, NJ)
  • Norm Duke (Denny's World Championships - Indianapolis, IN)
  • Michael Haugen Jr. (H&R Block Tournament of Champions - Las Vegas, NV)
  • Sean Rash (USBC Masters - Milwaukee, WI)
  • Doug Kent (Denny's World Championship - Wyoming, MI)
  • Pete Weber (U.S. Open - North Brunswick, NJ)
  • Doug Kent (USBC Masters - Milwaukee, WI)
  • Tommy Jones (U.S. Open - North Brunswick, NJ; PBA Tournament of Champions - Windsor Locks, CT)
  • Walter Ray Williams Jr. (Denny's World Championship - Indianapolis, IN)
  • Chris Barnes (PBA Tournament of Champions - Uncasville, CT)
