2007 World Tenpin Bowling Association
Women's World Championships

Aug. 31-Sept. 8
AMF Bol Obispado
Monterrey, Mexico

This will be the second Women's World Championships held separately from the Men's World Championships. In 2001, the World Tenpin Bowling Association Congress decided to split the events. The tournament consists of six disciplines (singles, doubles, trios, team, all-events and Masters). At least 60 countries are expected to be present. The event returns to Mexico for the first time since 1963, which was the first year the World Championships were held for women.

The United States is focused on one thing heading into the 2007 Women's World Championships - the five-player team gold medal. Team USA has not claimed gold in that event since 1987. In 2005 in Aalborg, Denmark, Team USA finished just 11 pins behind Chinese Taipei in the race for gold, settling instead for the silver medal. The United States will also be looking to win gold medals in doubles, trios and all-events for the first time since 1987.
