- Arena Finals to be held August 5 at Universal Studios in beautiful Orlando, Florida! The preliminary rounds of the finals will roll at Orlando’s new 80-lane Boardwalk Family Entertainment Center.
- Reduced Entry Fees – to make the Teen Masters experience affordable to all high school bowlers, the advance entry fee has been dramatically reduced from $90 to $55.
- ‘Finals Four Guarantee’ – the Teen Masters now guarantees a minimum of four bowlers, including at least one girl, from every qualifying event will advance to the National Finals in Orlando.
- Local Scholarship Awards – this year, 1 of 3 bowlers in each division will earn scholarship awards during each qualifying event.
- National Scholarship Awards – the TM is a sponsor driven, not an entry fee driven event. Thanks to its 2006 sponsors, which include USBC Sport Bowling, PBA, BPAA, Universal Orlando, Columbia 300 Industries, and Etonic, the 2006 Teen Masters continues to be the richest youth event in bowling, with $7500 guaranteed to the boy and girl champions in the finals.
- New Classified Divisions – While the Teen Masters annually crowns the “best high school bowlers in America” it is expanding its reach in 2006 to allow all high school and younger bowlers to participate through the creation of both a boy’s and girl’s Classified Divisions. These divisions are exclusively for bowlers with averages of 189 or under. These bowlers will compete for local scholarship money, but cannot advance to the national finals. Many of these players will become the next generation of national finalists.
- PBA Star Chris Barnes – a former youth and collegiate bowler himself, PBA and U.S. Open Champion Chris Barnes has joined the Teen Masters as an official spokesperson for 2006. He will attend the National Finals and be present for a variety of events, including his ‘Chris Barnes Leaders Challenge’ for the top players from every qualifying event.
- PBA Teen Masters Sport Lane Conditions – In conjunction with USBC Sport Bowling and the Professional Bowlers Association, the TM Qualifiers and Finals will challenge it’s bowling athletes with ‘PBA Teen Masters Sport’ lane oiling patterns, designed by top professionals in lane technology to assure the best performances will be rewarded.
