Connecticut teen and his dad pair up for powerful performance at Festival of Bowling

Traveling cross-country with his dad to compete in the Festival of Bowling at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nevada, 13-year-old Christian Teixeira of New Milford, Connecticut, knew he was in for a treat. It was his turn to play with his dad in the Festival’s Adult/Youth event.

Last year his 10-year-old brother Nick made the trip, which is an annual excursion for dad Paul and one of his sons. Both Christian and Nick have been certified league bowlers for the past three years.

“We like to have fun when we bowl, and if we score well, it’s a plus,” Christian’s dad said.

This year, both Christian and his dad turned in spectacular performances at the national event. Christian, a 135 average bowler, had a high game of 204 in the tournament. His dad scored a perfect game and a 706 series, both new personal bests.

“I like these lanes,” Christian said.

“My goal is to continue to improve – to be better today than I was yesterday. That’s my philosophy in bowling… and in life,” his dad added.

The 2005 Storm National Mixed Tournament and the Festival of Bowling are being held on selected weekends now through November 13. The Festival’s Adult/Youth event currently is the only national adult/youth championship tournament that allows direct entries, where kids and their adult partners don’t have to win a spot in a local or regional qualifying event to compete at the national level.
