Known as the "Chicken Farmer" to many who followed the professional tour during the 1960s, Miss Ortner rolled an 818 series in 1968 to become the first woman to break the 800 barrier for three games. She was the first Women's International bowling Congress member to roll a four-game series of over 1,000. Miss Ortner, from Galva, Iowa, won a team title at the 1969 USBC Women's Championships with Fitzpatrick Chevrolet. She averaged 206 during the 1967-68 season and 205 in two leagues during 1968-69. In the 1976-77 season, she tied for the lead in most 300 games with four.
