Bodis came to national attention when he set a then-record eight consecutive all-events totals above 1,800 at the USBC open Championships from 1925-32. He won a team title in 1924. Bodis was an outstanding team bowler for many years in the Cleveland area and was particularly noted for bowling in street shoes to which he added a rubber heel for sliding. He was the first man to lead the Open Championships 10-year average listings, starting with a 205.20 average in 1934.
