The Bowling Green men and women completed the sweep last weekend in Adrian, Michigan, after claiming the top spots in their respective divisions at the Siena Heights University Halo Classic.
The Halo Classic was contested at Lenawee Recreation Center and featured nine men's teams and six women's programs. The tournament included six traditional games to go with eight Baker games, and total pinfall determined the winner in each division.
On the men's side, the Falcons took a lead of more than 300 pins during the traditional set of games and never looked back, earning the win with a 7,237 pinfall total. Olivet took second place with 6,953, and Madonna finished third with 6,940.
Madonna's Antar Howard started and finished his six-game block with games over 250 on his way to the top individual performance, finishing with a 1,361 total, a 226.83 average. Bowling Green's Steven Kocher was second with 1,255, while Olivet's Brandon Kreiner (1,234) and Spring Arbor's Austin Kraemer (1,203) were the only other players to average more than 200 for six games. Bowling Green's Kyle Waynick rounded out the top five with 1,188.
The Bowling Green women collected their second consecutive win after finding their way into the winner's circle at last week's Warrior Fall Classic in Troy, Michigan. At the Halo Classic, Bowling Green finished with 6,788 to win by more than 450 pins. Siena Heights was second with 6,328, and Spring Arbor was third with 6,287.
Bowling Green' Britni Hosterman also captured her second individual win of the season after leading the Falcons last week. She fired a 1,196 total for six games to earn the top spot, 36 pins ahead of teammate Sabrina Romano (1,160). Spring Arbor's Kaylee Collier (1,123), Siena Heights' Tryna Gladstone (1,109) and Madonna's Rebecca West (1,074) also finished in the top five.
In other USBC Collegiate action over the weekend:
- At the Cardinal Classic in Muncie, Indiana, Wright State swept the men's and women's titles.
- At the Boilermaker Classic in Lafayette, Indiana, the St. Ambrose women defended their title, while the Robert Morris-Illinois men claimed the top spot.
- At the Great Lakes Bowling Conference I in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, the Wisconsin-Whitewater men and Highland CC women were victorious.
