USA Bowling develops summer camp programs

Published: February 23, 2012 | Bowl.com
ARLINGTON, Texas - Bowling centers, youth league directors and local associations looking to grow their business this summer can reach every skill level in the youth market with a new USA Bowling Summer Camp program.

Summer camps, particularly sports camps, are increasing in popularity as a way for kids to experience new ventures, develop their skills and have fun. With more than 20 million children bowling at least once a year, the International Bowling Campus (IBC) Youth Development team announced a step-by-step guide to implementing a successful USA Bowling Summer Camp program.

The guides are free and available to any proprietor or volunteer interested in boosting their youth participation this summer. Proprietors also have the option of using the curriculum ideas to build their own custom program.

"The camps were created with every child in mind, from beginner to advanced level," IBC Managing Director of Youth Development Chad Murphy said. "There are three summer camp options to choose from and they can use our curriculum or build their own; the choice is theirs. Whichever they choose, running the camps is as easy as 1-2-3."

Each camp places a high emphasis on skill development and fun, key factors of the USA Bowling program. Children are provided personal instruction from a coach as well as social time to meet friends and have a blast. Everything a proprietor or volunteer needs to know about running a successful camp is contained in the free Proprietor's Guide To USA Bowling Summer Camps.

There are three step-by-step guides available:

"Have Fun Learning To Bowl." This one-day camp is perfect for introducing kids to bowling by using instruction in a fun, social environment.

"Prepare for the Upcoming Season." A three-day camp designed for the newer to slightly advanced youth bowler to develop their skills and improve their average.

"Train to Win." This five-day camp is ideal for middle to high school bowlers who are serious about the sport and looking to participate in competitive play.
