LINCOLN, Neb. - The four men and four women who will battle for collegiate individual titles on national television were determined Tuesday at the 2012 United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles Championships.

2012 Singles advancersAnthony Fiorenzo of Calumet, Geoffrey Young of Wichita State, Lucas Hohnstein of Pikeville and Joe Steiner of Midland all advanced to Saturday's semifinals in the men's division. Jazreel Tan of Wichita State, Georgia Drewes of Newman, Elise Bolton of Nebraska and Katelyn Zwiefelhofer of Wisconsin-Whitewater advanced to the women's semifinals, also on Saturday.

The semifinals and finals will be televised on CBS Sports Network on a tape-delay basis, with the women airing May 4 at 10 p.m. Eastern and the men airing May 11 at 10 p.m. Eastern.

In Tuesday afternoon's quarterfinals, Fiorenzo delivered three clutch strikes in the final frame to edge Webber International's Marcelo Suartz, 643-637, at Sun Valley Lanes.

"I was shaking because this is what we live for in college bowling, having to strike out to win a match," Fiorenzo said. "It was great knowing that back home my parents were watching on the live streaming, and it was also great having my team and coach here to support me."

In the other men's quarterfinals, Young knocked off Wichita State teammate Kevin Tatrow, 695-624, Hohnstein took down Wichita State's Francois Lavoie, 750-710, and Steiner defeated Matt Krueger of Viterbo, 656-627.

On the women's side, Drewes claimed a close victory over McKendree's Brandi Branka, 599-597, to advance to the semifinals. Drewes struck out in the 10th frame, forcing Branka to double in the final frame, which she failed to do.

"We literally matched each other shot for shot the entire match until the end," Drewes said. "My knees were buckling at the end, and my heart was racing the entire match."

The other three quarterfinal matches were blowouts as Tan took down Brittany Hart of Long Island, 669-544, Bolton defeated Amelia Tonyes of St. Francis-N.Y., 572-488, and Zwiefelhofer knocked off Chelsea Essenmacher of Adrian, 657-575.

The focus now shifts to the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships, which begin Thursday morning with qualifying live on BOWL.com's BowlTV. The championship matches of the ITC's will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
